Microfluidics and Device Engineer (POCT Products)
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Microfluidics and Device Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of microfluidic cartridges using isothermal amplification methods, integrated heating, and optical readout. We want someone who thrives on coming up with concepts, building these into physical prototypes, and designing the experiments to prove they work.
Key Responsibilities
-
Design, develop, and optimize isothermal POCT microfluidic cartridges and devices with optical detection systems.
-
Brainstorm and propose innovative mechanical, thermal, and fluidic concepts to solve complex diagnostic and manufacturing constraints
-
Perform injection molding process development and optimization for plastic microfluidic components to support scalable product manufacturing.
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including IVD reagent development) on the co-development of microfluidic chips and integrated diagnostic platforms.
-
Participate in external R&D collaborations, including occasional business travel to support co-development projects
-
Conduct hands-on prototyping, testing, design custom test fixtures, and systematically analyse experimental data to root-cause subsystem failures.
-
Maintain accurate documentation of designs, experiments, and test results in compliance with product development processes.
Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
-
Minimum 2 years of industry experience in biomedical device or IVD product development, with end-to-end project involvement.
-
A strong practical intuition for hardware experimentation and comfortable working with raw data and iterating designs quickly based on lab results
-
Strong proficiency in CAD software (eg. SolidWorks), with expertise in plastic part design, material selection, and design for injection molding & manufacturability.
-
Practical knowledge of microfluidics, fluid dynamics, and heating control
-
Experience with optical systems for readout/detection in diagnostic devices is highly preferred.
-
Preferred: familiarity with IVD regulatory requirements and quality standards
-
Preferred: Knowledge of electronics or basic instrumentation is advantageous.
-
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to deliver high-quality work under tight timelines with strong communications and collaboration skill.
-
Proficiency in both English and Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) is a significant advantage.
-
Willing to work from our Mainland locations as part of our ongoing expansion.
What We Offer
-
Opportunity to work on cutting-edge POCT technologies with real-world impact in diagnostics.
-
Collaborative and dynamic team environment in a growing biotech company.
